We here at PayPal use quite a lot of open-source tech, be it our applications layer, site reliability & security platforms, data platforms, data science work or mobile apps. PayPal is one of the pioneers in adopting open-source tech at enterprise scale. However, when it comes to contributing back, we don’t enjoy the same leadership position among other tech compatriots. FOSSathon is an earnest effort to inspire and provide a platform for our developers to contribute to open source projects. Essentially, FOSSathon is hackathon for public free and open-source software projects of your choice.
